Tsumeru

The ability to recognize space is said to be especially developed in the early childhood period between the ages of 3 and 5. This work was created with the aim of assisting the development of this ability. It is a composition toy that combines wood, silicon, and EVA resin. By using materials with different weights, frictional forces, and textures, we thought it would be possible to experience stacking in ways not possible with wood alone, leading to the growth of imagination and spatial awareness skills. Packaging is characterized by its shape, which is based on a cube and divided into sections, allowing it to be stored neatly like a puzzle. The name of the product, “Tsumeru” is a word that simultaneously expresses the ability to “pile” the product into shapes that were not possible before and the fun of “packing” it up after playtime.
