The path you take becomes play.
In recent years, the decline in children’s outdoor play has been recognized as a social issue. This project proposes a new approach to urban space by reinterpreting everyday movement spaces as opportunities for play, in response to contemporary conditions surrounding children, such as the lack of time, places, and playmates. Existing spaces including school routes, streets, and parks are utilized, with eight small play spots distributed throughout the neighborhood to gently connect a large park with the town as a whole. By reexamining urban elements such as stairs, sidewalks, and safety barriers, the project creates spatial experiences that encourage diverse bodily movements and natural social interaction within daily movement, aiming to foster an environment that invites children to step outside and engage with their surroundings spontaneously.
