The store yokai possesses defective product

Providing new value to defective product
The aim of this work is to create a cycle that gives new value to imperfect products in response to social issues such as food waste and garbage, and the decline of traditional crafts. It focuses on a variety of imperfect products that have been overlooked until now, such as offcuts from the manufacturing process, scratches from transport, and imperfect traditional crafts, as well as products approaching their expiration date. To better communicate their value, the project proposed an online shop called "The store yokai possesses defective product," featuring yokai as a motif. The reason for using yokai was to appeal to the deeply rooted Japanese sensibility that "things have souls" and the feeling of pity for things, and to help people rediscover imperfect products as something to be cherished.
