AR・CHE
A chair that embodies the spirit of the traditional Circle Chair, giving form to tranquility and inner order in contemporary life
AR·CHE derives its name from the Greek word archē, meaning “origin” or “archetype,” a term that represents the starting point of all form and order. Drawing from the spirit of the traditional Chinese Circle Chair (Quan Yi), this chair interprets tranquility and inner order within the context of contemporary life.
Historically, the Circle Chair symbolized etiquette and social relationships through sitting posture.
In contrast, modern individuals navigate multiple roles and increasingly fast-paced lifestyles.
In response, this project proposes a chair that allows the user to momentarily step away from social roles and focus inward through the act of sitting.
Its smooth, continuous lines gently embrace the body, while the lightweight structure provides stable and unobtrusive support.
AR·CHE carries forward the memory of tradition while quietly integrating into modern life, presenting a form of stillness suited to the present day.
